Have you ever wondered why one of the habits of the wealthy and successful is to begin their day in the early A.M.?

If you understood the power of tapping into the morning hours, you too would begin your day, starting in the wee hours of the morning.

It has been documented that one of our Founding Fathers of the United States, Benjamin Franklin, was an early riser. Mr Franklin planned his daily routine when waking at 5am asking himself “What good shall I do this day?”

Now, not all successful people go to bed early, and not all people need 8 hours of sleep. But, it is said that the rich and wealthy usually get more done by 8am than most people do all day.

Since we as network marketers don’t seem to have enough hours in the day to run our business, maybe we need to take a lesson from the wealthy and successful business people, and make a change in our own routine.

These successful & wealthy people who appear to work long hours still find enough time for family life.

The Benefits of Starting Your Day Early

There are many benefits to rising early in the morning before the livestock awakes.

1. Early AM is the Best Time for a Workout

According to research, 76% of wealthy people exercise at least 4 days a week.

Whatever your style of exercise… the chances of your morning routine being cancelled is almost non-existent. On the other hand, exercising right after work is enjoyable, but the chances of your visit to the gym being suspended because of one thing or another is much greater… it’s called life.

Since we all know that exercise is one of the routine habits of the wealthy and we know that a healthy body equals a clear and healthy mind through a stimulating flow of endorphins, the smart and wealthy people want to make sure that their routine of exercise is not called off.

2. Wealthy Eat Healthy – An Early Riser Has Time for Breakfast

We all know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day.

Wealthy People Eat Right – Getting up early will help you get a nutritious breakfast. There are many people like myself that skip breakfast and drink coffee until hungry.

Without a good breakfast, your body is running low on energy, running on fumes. You will find yourself so hungry at lunchtime that you will eat whatever unhealthy thing you find.

Besides the healthy benefits of eating breakfast; eating breakfast while reading the newspaper or drinking your coffee in a serene atmosphere is much more enjoyable than scarfing something down while driving to work.

3. It’s Quieter in the Morning

Usually the morning hours allow you to escape the hustle of bustle of yelling kids, babies crying or television noise.

Morning times are the most peaceful time of the day… it’s a great time to reflect on your day ahead, your upcoming meeting; a time when you can read the newspaper, brainstorm about your business and breathe.

4. There is Less Distraction in the AM

An entrepreneur’s day can fill fast with board meetings, emails and managing their business. If you were to wait until the afternoon to do something of importance, the chances are that it will be removed from your to-do list altogether.

There are fewer distractions in the morning to keep you from accomplishing an important task, so the likelihood of your priorities being postponed or removed from your daily routine is virtually non-existent.

I seem to get so much more done when I start work early in the morning. When evening rolls around, I feel good about my days accomplishments, which also gives me quality time for family.

5. You Have MORE Willpower in the AM

Even if you are not a morning person, you will simply have more energy in the start of your day than you will as the day goes on. Willpower is like a muscle that can become fatigued over a period of time.

During your day you are dealing with business, difficult people, decision making and battling with traffic to and from work, which can be physically and emotionally draining. Your fatigue meter will deplete rapidly as your day moves closer towards the end of the business day.

6. Mornings Can Set the Tone for Your Day

Have you have ever slept through your alarm? Forgot to make the kids lunches? Forgot to the turn the coffee maker off wondering if it’s going overheat and burn your house down?

Starting the day off like this can dampen your mood and affect your days productivity at work, so beginning the day without the rush can make all the difference to your business.

4 Steps to Turning the Habitual Night Owl into a Morning Person

If the thought of waking up before the rooster crows is going to leave you on the side of exhaustion; here are 4 steps you can take to reverse your thinking and arise early.

1. Keep a Journal Documenting Your Time – One of the reasons many people don’t like the thought of getting up early is that they stay up too late to begin with.

For a week or so, keep an early evening, until you go to bed, journal documenting your time for everything you do. When you go to bed, when you eat dinner, watch TV, read the newspaper, etc.

Looking back at your journal for the week can show you where you are spending your evening hours productively, or doing something on the side of less than enjoyable.

2. Imagine the Extra Time in the Morning – Imagine what you might be able to accomplish, what you currently can’t do now, if you got up an extra hour earlier.

Envision what you would do with that extra hour of time. Would you choose to eat breakfast for better health? Or, maybe you might read the newspaper more thoroughly than just skimming the headlines?

Having a good reason to get out of bed will help you set the alarm for earlier and actually help you get up.

3. Plan Your Morning – Once you have decided what you are going to do with your extra time, plan how you will execute it. Plan out as much as you can the night before.

For example: if you don’t normally prepare your coffee maker the night before, do this to save you a little time. If you plan on going to the gym, set your clothes out the night before. If your plan is to start eating breakfast, gather the ingredients the night before.

4. Take Baby Steps to Create Your NEW Habit – Begin your new found habit of getting up earlier slowly. If you try to change your habit drastically, the chances of hitting your snooze button is greater.

Build your habit 10 or 15 minutes at a time. If you normally get up at 7am, set your alarm for 6:45am. To make sure you don’t lose any sleep, go to bed 15 minutes earlier than normal.
